You never know what you really have.......until it's gone

The picture below tells it all. We still have nice and healthy corals around the world but the actions we take today will determine the future of these and other marine environments that are imperative to life on Earth. It's important that we are careful with our world wide corals, they are the lungs of the ocean and without lungs we can't breath!

In this respect, National Geographic reported about a study that reveals that some of the sunscreen fluids we use, can damage corals.

The study shows that four commonly found sunscreen ingredients can awaken dormant viruses in the symbiotic algae called zooxanthellae that live inside reef-building coral species.
The chemicals cause the viruses to replicate until their algae hosts explode, spilling viruses into the surrounding seawater, where they can infect neighboring coral communities.

Zooxanthellae provide coral with food energy through photosynthesis and contribute to the organisms' vibrant color. Without them, the coral "bleaches"—turns white—and dies.

The study appeared online in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives.

Please help our corals, don't touch them, don't walk on them, that's small start.
