Today I conducted an
EFR course with Pim on Koh Samui at the
local hyperbaric chamber in Bang Rak. We conducted the primary, secondary and Care for Children course. A handful indeed and it took us a morning and afternoon to get all the materials sorted and to get the skills out of the way.
Especially the exams for each segment was something Pim was not looking forward to but she managed them, despite the fact that they were in English, since unfortunately these EFR exams are not translated into the Thai language.
A very relieved Pim after completing the EFR course and meeting the course requirements
We started the day with watching videos, first for EFR training and after that for Care for Children. Since Pim now works as a nanny, she has her own nanny company with various girls working for her, she's very interested in the overall first aid concept, but specifically the Care for Children course took her interest and we covered a lot of skills and time with a Baby Annie.

The second part of the day was the practical hands on part, with CPR training and looking into various other aspects that come along during training like a recovery position, a log roll, choking and bandaging.
This was followed by three sets of exams, which Pim did master, as explained before.

It was great to conduct this course with Pim. I know her since over 14 years already. When I was manager of the, at the time, biggest dive center on Koh Samui, Pim was one of the Thai office staff working at the shop with me. She's now married to a Dutch guy, Richard, who completed his IDC with me. Just to show how small the world can be!
As I said already, it was great to teach Pim this course, now on to the Instructor course Pim!
